Our Story
The India Network Foundation is a nonprofit, charitable, educational and community organization founded by Dr. K.V. Rao to serve the Asian Indian Community around the world and to help developmental projects in India. The India Network, started in 1988 is the first electronic network of Asian Indians in the World and is unique in delivering the publications to the electronic mail box of members. The Network published a number of digests ranging from news to matrimonial, and specialized forums such Immigration Law Forum. Corporate sponsorship from Sun Microsystems, Cisco, and Dell allowed the Foundation to build their online platform during the 1990s through the donations of computers & network equipment. As the online community grew, India Network grew, and so did the services it provides. From matrimonial services to travel booking, India Network caters to all the needs of the community. |
Over time, members of our community reached out to Dr. Rao asking for help. Often, students, young professionals, or their visitors were traveling in the US and were involved in an accident. Community members asked Dr. Rao to raise funds to help with medical bills or repatriation of the remains back to India. This spurred Dr. Rao to provide a medical insurance plans for visitors traveling to the United States.
Currently, the India Network Foundation focuses on multiple non-profit projects, both in the United States & in India. On-going Non-profit projects include: Distributing Maps to Rural School Houses, Vaccination for Rural Children, Construction of Water Purifying Mineral Tanks in Rural Villages, and many other initiatives. |
